Which VPN is best? How fast will it be?
Is it really where it says?
We don't pick one. We test them all from the same place every 5 minutes, so results compare fairly.

VPNTest.org connects to VPN providers from its own measurement nodes, the way a paying customer would, and publishes what it finds. Nobody pays to be listed or to change a number.
What a node is
The "same place": one computer of ours on one internet line, holding a tunnel open to every provider and checking each one every five minutes. Each node has its own table.
How to read the tables
- One table per node: rows from different nodes are never compared or averaged.
- Not a ranking: the order is shuffled every day. Sort by whatever matters to you.
- Uptime and latency cover the last 24 hours; download and upload, the middle of the last 7 days of tests.

The speed bars use the same scale on every row: 0 to 100 Mbps.
How to read these results
Three things worth knowing before you look at the numbers.
One table per node
A figure depends on the line it was measured through, so rows from different nodes are never sorted, filtered or averaged together, and a number in one table is not comparable with a number in another. Why vantages differ.
Not a ranking
Each table starts in an order that is shuffled once a day, the same for everyone, so no provider is always first. Sort it by whatever matters to you, with the Sort by pills or the column headings; each table is sorted on its own. Open a row for the checks behind its numbers.
What the figures cover
Uptime and latency cover the last 24 hours of each node's five-minute checks. Download and upload are the median of the speed tests in the last 7 days, about one test a day for each server, and the measured location is the country most sources agree on, from the latest full check. Point at a speed, or open a row with its arrow, to see what each figure means in everyday terms. Until each provider's own wording for its servers is recorded, the locations are our labels for them.
